Skip NavigationUSMC Corporal Clark Cavalier received a new smart home through the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers’ Building for America’s Bravest program on January 30, 2018 in Marydel, Maryland.
Corporal Cavalier suffered the loss of both legs above the knee, and serious injury to his left arm and hand on April 24, 2011 when he stepped on an IED in the Marja Province of Afghanistan.
Anderson Carpet One Floor & Home in Rehoboth Beach, DE, participated in the project by generously donating the flooring and installation throughout the smart home which will provide independence for Clark with custom-built functionality enabling him to do some of the day to day tasks that many of us take for granted.
Ashley Anderson Wilson, owner of Anderson Carpet One Floor & Home, felt extremely moved by the experience,
“Throughout our 42 years in this community, Anderson Carpet One has always looked for opportunities large and small to contribute in meaningful ways. The opportunity to assist the Stephen Siller Foundation was near and dear to me personally given my recent career prior to joining my family's Carpet One in 2014.
To give back to Clark in this way for all he has done meant the world to me, my team and our local partners. My project manager, Brian Lehmuth, dedicated countless hours to ensuring the design and installation went smoothly and that Clark would be wowed with the final result. And we are ever so grateful to local partners, Chad Moore, Business Manager for Fishman Flooring Solutions and Jason Eckard, the DC/Baltimore Territory Manager for Schluter Systems North America for generously donating additional installation and setting materials that were critical in achieving the finished, polished result. The products from Mohawk were first class and the end result was everything we had hoped for. We also partnered with local restaurant group, Fins Hospitality Group, which donated a portion of Veteran's Day sales to the Stephen Siller Foundation for an added $1800 donation. We wish Clark all the best in his new home and hope it brings him a lifetime of happiness!”
